Body wraps

What are body wraps?

A body wrap is a spa treatment experience . It begins with some kind of exfoliation, which is a fancy word that means removing dead skin cells. Usually, a spa therapist will use a high quality scrub to make sure the exfoliation is as efficient as possible.

The spa therapist will then apply oils and ingredients to the body, depending on the wrap. Afterwards, they may wrap you in plastic, blankets or bandages. As you can imagine, body wraps aren’t for those of us who are claustrophobic. But there are many excellent benefits to body wraps that can make this spa treatment appealing.

What benefits do body wraps bring?

We all know that a good body scrub brings loads of benefits. But a body wrap can also bring a variety of feel good feelings, depending on its type. As a spa treatment, body wraps can really vary. So to help make things easier, we’ve listed a couple of body wraps below.

Hydrating body wraps

Hydrating body wraps are fairly simple as wraps go, using a natural body cream to make the skin smooth and healthy. After a body scrub, cream is applied around the body and left for a short time. A hydrating body wrap is great for when your skin is dry and suffering from over exposure to sun.

Seawead body wraps

Seawead wraps help to nourish and detoxify the skin. After a scrub, algae is applied to the skin, usually in a paste form. You are then wrapped in foil or a blanket for a short while. When time is up, you enjoy a shower as you remain laying down. If you have cellulite, algae wraps are meant to be especially helpful

Slimming wraps

Slimming wraps are a niche that tightly wrap the limbs in special mineral soaked bandages. It can help you to temporarily lose weight, however its effects are short term and are not suitable for long term use. For some people, they can be great for giving initial confidence for special occasions such as weddings.

Detox body wraps

We’ve all heard of ‘detox’, but what it essentially means is ridding the body of toxins that make us feel bad. A detox wrap usually means the application of mud or clay that is covered across the body. Afterwards, you’re wrapped in plastic or a blanket and time flows away.

The effects of a detox body wrap can be quite substantial. You’ll feel lighter and healthier.
